General Motors had planned to have 500 employees in their second shift in Flint, Michigan, but are now postponing this course of action on the medium-duty line that was to produce the GMC TopKick and Chevrolet Kodiak. Flint Truck Assembly spokesman Kevin Nadrowski stated, “We feel we can meet our customer orders with a single shift rather than add a second shift… and will scale back production on the plant’s heavy-duty line, which makes Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierra pickups, sooner than planned.” The cuts took effect due to declining auto sales and high gas prices.
