With a stated goal of cutting greenhouse gases by 80% by 2050, Massachusetts will look to add green jobs in the state.
Governor Deval Patrick signed a bill to fund an increase in state green jobs.
Through a $68 million, five-year plan, Massachusetts will boost its efforts in research, engineering, and technology fields to cut down on the state’s emissions and environmental shortcomings.
Money will also go towards developing a Massachusetts Clean Energy Technology Center that will work to expand the state’s clean energy efforts.
Given the strains on the economy, Massachusetts is taking the initiative in expanding its job market into developing and growing sectors. In the case of green jobs, the growth will not only help the state’s environment for the future, but it will benefit the people living there who are looking for work.
