Job Description:
Working in the QGC Engineering department this role is responsible for the delivery of sustained operations in line with operational targets whilst ensuring civil/structural systems are safe, efficient and compliant with company and industry standards. The role provides civil/structural engineering support across all Upstream facilities with above- asset support to Midstream.
Upstream facilities include, gas processing facilities, wellsites, pipelines, water treatment plants and the Condamine Power Station.
Some of the deliverables and accountabilities of the role are:
Provide Assurance reviews of Civil/Structural engineering designs to ensure safety, integrity, best-practice fit-for-purpose designs.
Manage the integrity of all Civil/Structural Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) in Upstream to ensure they function as barriers to Major Accident Hazards.
Provide guidance to operations and maintenance & reliability engineers on inspection and maintenance of Civil/Structural assets, including implementation and use of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
Review Civil/Structural SCE deferrals in compliance with the QGC SCE Deferral Procedure.
Review changes in the context of Civil/Structural engineering in compliance with the QGC Management of Change processes and procedure.
Support implementation and continuous improvement of Asset Management standards and manuals.
Supervise the delivery of third-party work scopes within agreed budgets and timeframes.
Oversee designs being undertaken by engineering contractors to ensure that Safety in Design (SiD) is embedded and that minimum standards of technical compliance are met.
Participate in design safety studies and workshops as required.
Ensure that operations requirements and lessons learned are fed into the design process for new capital and brownfields projects.
Propose Civil/Structural design changes to achieve improved safety, reliability, production optimisation and reduced capital and maintenance cost.
Develop and maintain detailed systems knowledge and ‘ways-of-working’ to continuously improve (CI) on Civil/Structural engineering input in the design, fabrication, construction and operational phases.
Actively participate in the Civil/Structural Engineering community in QGC, Shell Australia and the wider Shell company.
The Civil/Structural Engineer may be asked to deliver, lead or participate in technical studies, safety investigations, CI projects, and undertake other tasks or activities which from time to time the business deems appropriate.
Interface with engineering, operations, project and asset colleagues across QGC and with Technical Authorities and Discipline Peers and others across the wider Shell company.

Requirements:
The candidate we are therefore seeking for this position, will have/be;
A degree in Civil Engineering
Attained or working towards Chartered Professional Engineer and RPEQ status
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of applying Civil/Structural engineering principles and standards in the design, construction and maintenance of onshore brownfield facilities.
Experience in overseeing design, construction and maintenance scopes of work being undertaken by engineering contractors or third parties.
Knowledge and/or application of Civil Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) on brownfield facilities would be distinctly advantageous.
Crucial to the success of this role is the ability to work effectively in/and across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a variety of locations. You will have a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive our company’s safety performance. You will enjoy working autonomously and be encouraged to think innovatively, while using your excellent time management skills to deliver exceptional results.
