This Assistant Construction Manager will coordinate the activities of new home construction at the sub-division level according to my client's standards and processes. Additionally, you will ensure that quality and customer satisfaction are maintained throughout the construction process while overseeing subcontractors, Assistant Superintendents and Laborers. Client Details My client is a large general contractor specializing in custom home building in norther Virginia. They have a well established brand bringing a level of quality unparalleled by their competitors. Description The Assistant Construction Manager will: Responsible for maintaining and tracking the master project schedule Procurement and purchasing of materials throughout the project and coordination with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors and the site superintendent. Process and be responsible for all submitals, request for information, shop drawings, value engineering, change proposals/change orders Will participate in project meetings and be responsible for taking detailed meeting minutes that will be distributed to the team for record. Assist in the bid process. Expected to coordinate between the different team members including site super, subcontractors, accountants, estimators, architect, client, vendors and 3rd party consultants. Will assist the Project Manager and Project Team in all phases of the project from pre-construction planning to construction to punch list and final sign off/closeout. Will assist with writing scopes and creating subcontractor agreements based on project requirements, drawings, scope of work and specifications. . Profile The ideal Assistant Construction Manage will have: Degree in construction management, civil engineering and/or an understanding of the construction management process - field experience is desirable but not required. 1-3 years experience. Excellent oral and written communication Strong organizational skills to track, maintain and follow up throughout the project to ensure that critical task are being completed per the drawings/specifications and on schedule. Ability to manage time effectively, efficiently and know how to prioritize task. Be able to understand and have general knowledge of accounting to track and monitor budget. Must be able to create and present weekly/monthly project reports to review with the project team members. Must be proficient on the computer with the ability to learn new software and systems quickly and effectively. Must be able to read, interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications. Must have at least 3 years prior construction management experience as a construction superintendent, Asst./Project Manager or civil engineer field inspector involving building construction.
