About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
The Major Construction Project Manager will be in the Programs and Strategy Group (P&S) within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission, Substation and Operations Business Unit (TS&O). The Major Construction Project Manager (Project Manager) will be responsible for managing multiple capital projects within SCE’s service territory, including projects for development of substation and transmission facilities, infrastructure replacement, and execution of related strategic capital programs.. These projects have high visibility with financial and operational impacts. The Project Manager will manage both internal and external stakeholder participation to ensure that projects meet defined scope, cost, and schedule
Work with project team leads from internal organizations to support the successful execution of the projects.
Interface with external customers to coordinate project activities and communicate status.
Manage and direct cross functional and inter-departmental teams.
Analyzing complex issues to ensure alignment and consistency, with internal and external policies and goals.
Manage and track and project performance and provide status updates.
Spend a significant amount of time in the field supporting construction activities and performing other duties and responsibilities assigned.
Ensure that necessary documentation and approvals are obtained for any changes requested to project scope, cost, or schedule.
Manage, communicate, document, and control key project risk elements
Seven or more years managing projects in the development, design, or construction of electrical facilities
Five years or more of project management experience involving transmission, distribution, and/or substation facilities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management or related field
Project Management Certification
Experience specifying and managing project cost/budget, scope, schedule, and resources, managing vendors, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting
Leading direct interactions with regulatory agencies such as the local cities/counties, and state/federal organizations.
Interfacing and collaborating with team members, different departments to develop solutions, facilitate cooperation between different parties, and obtain stakeholder buy-in.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
