This position is a temporary practicum in civil engineering. Incumbents will assist professional engineering staff as needed by performing any or all of the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.
Participates in analytical and design studies.
Performs field survey duties under direction of survey professionals.
Performs calculations to support engineering projects including cost, materials, dimension, drainage, and other calculations.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to create engineering and design documents.
May perform construction inspections and monitoring under supervision of engineering or inspection professionals.
Researches regulations, products, and design techniques to provide answers to engineering staff and clients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must be working to obtain Bachelor's degree (BS) from an accredited Engineering school in a four-year college or university.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write reports, correspondence and memorandum.
Ability to work with mathematic concepts such as algebraic functions and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database; Internet; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software. Working knowledge of CADD software a plus.
Must possess a valid driver license and be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
