WSP is currently initiating a search for a Highway/Roadway Engineer

for our Austin

office. This position is best suited for an engineer who is seeking an opportunity to work within a team-focused local office, for a large world-wide engineering firm. Career development, mentoring and employee satisfaction is key within our local civil group and the firm.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform civil/highway design tasks requiring independent judgment regarding standard design and engineering techniques and procedures for roadway projects

Perform design tasks and prepare calculations on highway projects from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design

Coordinate with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, storm water, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way

Prepare roadway plans from conceptual to preliminary schematic and final PS&E design for roadway and traffic control disciplines

Ensure that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements

Ability to work on small projects or portions of larger projects in a team-oriented environment

Prepare quantity take-offs and construction cost estimating

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an accredited University or College

Minimum of 2 years of related experience in Transportation design

Experience in engineering development using Bentley MicroStation, OpenRoads, PowerGeopak or Power InRoads

Verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and with others

Preferred Qualifications

Applied knowledge and understanding of TxDOT Roadway Design Manual, Traffic Control Plans, and Signing and Pavement Marking layouts

Experience in design and permitting in City of Austin or City of San Antonio and Travis County

Familiarity with the Manual of Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) or AASHTO Green Book

Knowledge of ArcGIS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF-editing programs is preferred

Experience in Utility coordination

Previous use of hydraulic and hydrology computer programs (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS)
