The Opportunity

We are seeking a Transportation Technician for our Transportation-Construction Management Practice.

The Transportation Technician will have experience in soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials testing and inspection experience in the field of road and bridge construction. Duties include inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for major road and bridge projects. This person will be involved with field observation, inspection, testing and sampling of concrete, grout, masonry, soil, aggregates and asphalt placement, as well as other duties as required. Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project managers.

Qualifications:

HS diploma or equivalent and 8 years experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited university may be substituted for experience

Radiation safety for nuclear density gauge, basic concrete and basic soils certifications

Valid NC Driver's License

Must have good driving record

Experience with NCDOT construction and knowledge of NCDOT specifications desired

Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames

Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods of time

Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks

Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection

Ability to lift and/or move you to 50 pounds
