Duties: Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of transportation systems, data, and plans. Perform engineering design evaluations, recommend alterations for development, and improve the quality of products for and/or procedures. Work in real time traffic management and on traffic incident management by performing the impact of incidents on arterials and accidents. Coordinate with the incident response staff, as required and adjust the signal timings along individual intersections using the Management Information System or transportation (MIST). Develop traffic management strategies for special events. Perform traffic engineering analysis, signal design, and signal timing optimization. Perform travel time studies, vehicular and pedestrian clearance time calculations, timing implementation, and the evaluation of Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs).
Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelor's degree Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field, and three years of work experience in job offered or three years of work experience in a related occupation. Experience must include: Synchro, VISSIM, and DynaSmart; developing traffic signal operations; and evaluating traffic signal operation strategies. Must be available to travel to and work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
