Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of a Water Resources Engineer at HDR involve working under the supervision of project managers and engineers on civil design and water resource projects for federal, state and local agencies and municipalities.These duties including project engineering and task management support; conduct hydraulic and hydrologic modeling; design and analyze stormwater management systems; conduct floodplain analyses; conduct assessments of transportation related hydraulic structures; collect, assimilate, and present data in reports and memos; lead production of design calculations and technical reports; and support preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and permitting efforts. The ideal candidate will work independently as well as plan, organize, and assist groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on the project/task. Project teams typically include drafters, modelers, engineers, biologists, wetland scientists, project managers and database coordinators. Will conduct water resources planning, plan formulation, concept development, develop planning documentation, and assist in water resources permitting efforts. Specific duties include data collection and assimilation, hydraulics and hydrology modeling and civil design of drainage structures including culverts, levees, floodwalls, and dams, storm water collection systems modeling and design, erosion mitigation and permitting, storm water quality evaluations, and client presentations. Water Resources Engineers are involved in the production of technical reports, construction documents, civil quantities and cost estimates, and specifications. Typical projects range from watershed studies, flood control assessments, drainage infrastructure analysis and preliminary design, river/channel analyses, stream grade control structures, flood insurance studies, FEMA submittals and routine inspections of federally constructed projects.Keyword(s): Water Resources Engineer, HEC-RAS, job #152795. *LI-MP1','!*!Required Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Civil / Environmental Engineering required ; Masters of Science in engineering preferred• PE or EIT with the ability to obtain PE license within one year of hire• 3 yrs experience• Knowledge of Hydrologic and Hydraulic models such as: HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, and HEC-HMS• Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D a plus• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) • Candidates must be able to prepare written technical reports, have excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact with clients • Ability to effectively organize and complete multiple tasks in a schedule-sensitive environment • Self-motivated, able to work both independently and with a project team to completion of a task • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.Why HDRAt HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for; it's also about what you do and how you do it.
