The Project Engineer will lead engineering teams on in performing engineering investigations, analysis, design, and calculations and preparing contract plans, specifications and estimates. The Project Engineer will supervise in-house staff and subconsultants in the performance of design work, interface with project management and client technical staff, adhere to the company\u2019s Quality Assurance/Quality Control program, and prepare and manage budgets for engineering investigation and design work.
Candidate must we well versed in design standards, guidelines and techniques for New York/New Jersey agency clients, and use structural design software packages. The position requires advanced knowledge and application of basic and integrated engineering principles, fundamental theories, engineering techniques and procedures. This position depends upon the ability to collaborate with other project team members and the ability to apply discretion and independent judgement in the performance of the essential job duties.
Oversee and direct the development of calculations, design concepts, engineering analyses, check specifications; create and review cost analysis and bidding documents;
Lead a project\u2019s construction support services including evaluation and analysis of field conditions, addressing contractor inquiries, review shop drawings and issuance of field change sheets.
Read and interpret engineering plans, maps, survey field notes, aerial photographs and drawings.
Recommend deployment of design software packages and supervise their use
Develop technical capabilities of project staff
Prepare and present technical/engineering reports.
Perform design research to develop recommendations for approaches, concepts, materials or equipment selection.
Prepare project drawings consistent with company standards and in compliance with municipal and agency requirements. Drawing preparation utilizing MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil3D Software.
Review and comply with production work-plans, production schedules and production budgets.
Work with project managers to establish staffing plans, work schedules, contract budgets and scopes of work.
Coordination with review/approval agencies.
Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering degree from an ABET accredited undergraduate or graduate program. Masters degree a plus
Professional Engineers license in New York State
Eight to ten years of progressive experience in engineering for transportation projects
Design/Build project experience a plus
Practical knowledge of design software (list proficiencies)
Competencies in Analytic Thinking, Continuous Learning, Time Management and Teamwork.
