The purpose of this position is to provide operational leadership for the Houston-area business. This includes but is not limited to leading and supervising cross-functional staff and field superintendents in the erection/reconstruction of cooling towers, ensuring that each job is completed safely, timely, efficiently, with quality and within budget. The incumbent ensures that the construction aspect of cooling towers is completed under experienced leadership and direction. Further, the incumbent is responsible for customer satisfaction and completing each job according to contract and budget. This role involves regional travel in order to effectively oversee cooling tower construction. The successful incumbent demonstrates strong leadership skills, ensures that job sites are as safe as possible, works well with clients and fellow associates, and stays on-time and on budget.
Interface with clients
Direct supervision all area superintendents/field managers and oversee their projects
Direct supervision for all construction coordinators and field planners
Indirect supervision for all Houston-area support functions (i.e. HR, Project Management, Sales etc.)
Responsible for development of area superintendents and key technical roles
Prepare labor budgets and maintain daily tracking reports to keep stakeholders informed on job costs
Assist in the requisition and delivery of construction materials to the jobsites
Staff all projects with appropriate supervisory personnel and manpower
Create daily reports required of the company and the client
Select suppliers for equipment rental and field job supplies
Insure proper safety equipment is available on every job
Assist the site superintendent in closing out each job, including final paperwork, and ensuring client approval and satisfaction
Manage budget to produce profit for each job in his/her area
Create and manage forecasts, schedules, and work plans
Coordinate with other Area Construction Managers to level-load work
Monitor progress of on each job by the company and its subcontractors
Coordinate and run pre-construction meetings with the client
Report directly to the general manager of construction
Responsible for all assigned locations
% above or below budget
% on-time project completion

Competency in all cooling tower and reconstruction processes
Ability to manage costs and enhance margins to meet financial profit goals
High school diploma, or equivalent, 4-year degree preferred
10 years in construction field work and/or project management in a construction-related field
3-5 years in a supervisory capacity
Construction management experience preferred
CERTIFICATION/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Windows-based applications
Knowledge and application of safety standards through OSHA training and experience
