Assist in the analysis of building component failures and help develop means of assessment and conducting investigation assignments
Complete site investigations for analysis and/or documentation of the conditions as needed and project dictates
Perform Building Condition Assessments on a variety of building types to document existing conditions and provide possible opinions on conditions as needed
Prepare calculations as needed and write reports and other supporting documentation as needed
Prepare repair construction documents as needed
Interact with clients as needed to explain the opinions and/or repair details
Complete business development and marketing activities as needed, such building client relationships, participating and presenting at seminars or other continuing education activities, and participate in professional societies
Willingness to learn the processes, of forensic engineering which will include investigating and diagnosing problems, and developing realistic solutions
Understand the litigation process and potentially work into the role for preparing testimony accordingly
Willing to work within a team concept
Experience using AutoCAD, writing reports, and use of structural engineering design software (such as STAAD Pro or RAM)
General use and knowledge of the Building Codes
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, ideally with a structural emphasis
Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota, or other state with ability to be registered in Minnesota within a year
Minimum five years working experience within the engineering profession
Knowledge and experience related to building construction and review highly desired
Must be familiar with design principles of wood, masonry, concrete, and steel
