REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
The Construction Manager oversees the operation of the construction department to ensure timely completion of projects, customer satisfaction and profitability on all refrigeration projects for new stores and store remodels. Knowledge of commercial and industrial refrigeration, work place safety, customer relations, job forecasting, bid development & sales is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Maintain ongoing client relationship and recognize future business opportunities.
Provide administration and business support to a department of 30 employees in the positions of: Foreman, Journeyman, Apprentice, Coordinator, EMS Team and other assigned staff, to ensure compliance with established quality standards and completeness of work performed.
Supervise and/or develop the information necessary in the bidding process for retaining old and obtaining new commercial refrigeration installation projects.
Demonstrate the application of the knowledge of commercial refrigeration installation through supervisory and management practices.
Working closely with other project managers based on their assigned customers in the local market.
Ensure that all project paperwork is handled timely and accurately.
Manage all communication amongst the team to foster an open environment of positive communication and teamwork to proactively solve issues and successfully execute the project scope.
Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the projects.
Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities per project with foreman, project manager and project coordinators.
Determine the client objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
Meets or exceed financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, identifying and implementing efficiencies, analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Enhance client relationship through proactive and positive communication, and by recognizing and delivering on client key issues and expectations.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Ensure compliance with and conformance to established company safety programs and environmental objectives.
Coordinate vehicle maintenance program.
Ensure that the annual evaluations of employees directly supervised are completed accurately and timely.
Ensure that training needs are evaluated with construction foreman and provided to field employees.
Willing to travel (up to 20% of the time) when required.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Refrigeration knowledge and background is a must.
Proficient in reading construction blue prints, specifications and contract documents.
Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking the English language effectively. Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent with the ability to draw and interpret bar graphs and tracking documents.
Employee must be an experienced user of Microsoft Office software (Outlook (e-mail), Excel, Word and PowerPoint), capable of learning other personal computer applications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in technical or construction education program desired, but not required.
Five (5) years of experience in project management or a foreman level.
This position works in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Visiting job sites maybe required occasionally. While on jobsites, this person must adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and protocols which means this person may be required to wear personal protective devices such as but not limited to hearing and eye protection.
Employee must be capable of performing their responsibilities with minimal supervision.
