Civil Engineer Assistant Jobs
The functions of a civil engineer assistant include assisting the civil and the senior civil engineer in meetings and seminars and in preparing construction estimates and project budgets, reviewing design plans, drawings, contracts and their specifications, preparing clear and concise reports of the projects as well as scheduling projects and creating spreadsheets. A civil engineer assistant has to perform field and office related engineering work, prepare plans and specifications, maps and layouts. Also, a civil engineer assistant assists the civil engineer when there are negotiations of contract agreement with contractors and vendors. One of the functions of the civil engineer assistant also includes documentation and maintenance of the information pertaining to the project as well as preparing legal description of the property.
A civil engineer assistant should be well conversant with civil engineering practices and methods. A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required for this position along with knowledge of computers, CADD and good communication skills; both verbal and written.
